Elton John confirms shocking blindness after battling severe infection
Music legend Elton John has opened up about a deeply personal health struggle, revealing that he has lost his vision due to a serious infection.
The 77-year-old star shared this poignant news during a charity gala performance of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical.
Addressing the audience, John stated, “As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight.”
This surprising announcement follows his earlier disclosure about losing vision in his right eye just days prior.
During the gala on Sunday night, Sir Elton John spoke candidly, saying, “As some of you may know, I have had issues and now I have lost my sight. I haven’t been able to see the performance, but I have enjoyed listening to it,” as reported by the BBC.
He also took a moment to acknowledge his husband, David Furnish, who was present at the event, for being a steadfast support throughout this challenging time.
“To my husband, who’s been my rock, because I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews, as you know, I’ve lost my eyesight, so it’s hard for me to see them, but I love to hear them,” John expressed. “And, boy, it sounded good tonight! OK! Thank you for coming!”
Sir Elton John expressed his gratitude towards his husband, David Furnish, who was present at the event, for being a steadfast support during challenging times. “To my husband, who’s been my rock, I haven’t been able to attend many previews lately due to my vision loss, but I truly enjoy listening to them,” John shared.

He also reassured his fans that he is receiving treatment to enhance his eyesight.
The iconic singer is married to Canadian filmmaker David Furnish, with whom he has shared a loving partnership for 31 years before officially tying the knot in 2014. Furnish co-directed the documentary Elton John: Never Too Late alongside R.J.
