Court remands tiler for allegedly raping employer’s wife
A Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos on Tuesday remanded a 27-year-old tiler, Qudus Kazeem, at the Ikoyi Correctional Center, on charges of allegedly raping his employer’s wife.
Magistrate Mrs. Sanusi Adagun ordered the defendant’s remand following his arraignment on four counts: unlawful sexual intercourse, threat to life, obtaining money under false pretenses, and theft.
In response, Adagun directed the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and forward a copy to the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.
The case was adjourned until December 18 for further proceedings.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Reuben Solomon, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in the month of December 2022, at No, 8/10, Kola John, off Feyintola Giwa St., Surulere, Lagos.
Solomon alleged that the defendant, who was hired to lay tiles in the apartment of Mr. Damilare Gbadamosi, left his job and forced himself on the victim’s wife. He threatened to destroy the victim’s marriage if she did not send him money or agree to have sex with him.
Solomon stated that the alleged offenses violated sections 56 (1) (a), 260, 280, and 314 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
