Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ winner, Ijeoma Otabor, better known as Phyna, has publicly announced that she is dropping her family’s surname.
In a tweet, the reality star shared that she is choosing to no longer use her family name, Otabor. She explained that she has been living without any family ties and that nobody knows her background. Phyna has mentioned that her search for answers has been challenging lately.
The reality star and actress expressed that she is currently in a state where she struggles to articulate her feelings or describe her current situation. She reflected on her childhood, where she was often tossed around by relatives, yet she was too young to question her circumstances.
“I am publicly dropping my family surname OTABOR. It has been proven that I actually have no family and nobody knows how I came about. I’m still searching for answers though. It’s been rough with me lately. I’m in a place where I can’t even describe how I feel or what to call what I’m going through rn. Going up and the way I was toss around relative, I should have suspected, but I guess I was too young. Omo my head wan tear!!!!!!”.
Last year, Phyna’s father granted an interview with a media outlet, narrating his ordeal with his daughter, who he claimed had abandoned him after winning the show. He revealed that Phyna had made promises to him, which she failed to fulfill, and hasn’t set eyes on her since winning the show.
Reacting to it, the reality star had called out the media outlet, for tormenting her with texts and calls as she narrated her ordeal with one of its reporters. Phyna revealed that in the history of dragging, this is the first time, she has cried and it touched her. She also gave up her body to her family to eat whenever she died.
Weighing into her beef with her family, comedian, DeeOne had offered the reality star’s father N500k. In want seems like a shade at the reality star, he admonished her to stop living a fake life.
