Diddy requests bail AGAIN, as lawyers reference past similar cases where defendants were released
The legal team of Music mogul Diddy has once again sought bail, just a month after their initial request was denied. This time, they cite similar cases where defendants were released as the reason for their appeal.
The 55-year-old rapper, Sean Combs, also known as Diddy, has had his attorney file a new motion on Friday, aiming to secure his release while he awaits trial, following his first hearing on a prison call with his children.
Legal documents from TMZ reveal that Diddy’s lawyers are proposing a comprehensive bail package. This includes a $50 million bond and 24-hour surveillance to prevent him from attempting to flee the country or intimidate witnesses.
His legal team has made similar bail requests in the past, but they now believe this attempt is more successful. They point to other cases where defendants accused of similar crimes were granted bail while awaiting trial.
For instance, they highlight a case involving a CEO accused of sex trafficking dozens of young men with an accomplice who intimidated witnesses.
Diddy’s legal team contends that the government initially sought a $10 million bond and a $500,000 bond, both significantly lower than the $50 million bail package they are presenting in his case.
Furthermore, his attorneys assert that Diddy has been confined to MDC Brooklyn throughout the proceedings, following a judge’s declaration that the government has demonstrated the defendant poses a threat.
Following his arrest on September 16, Diddy has been accused of numerous crimes, including sex trafficking and racketeering.
Since then, over 120 victims have come forward, yet Diddy maintains his innocence and is advocating for a trial as soon as possible, possibly in the spring.
