Kamala Harris finally concedes election to Donald Trump as she calls to congratulate him
Kamala Harris has made the historic decision to call Donald Trump and concede the United States presidential election just hours after her stunning defeat was officially announced.
In their conversation, the vice president highlighted the importance of ensuring a peaceful transfer of power and emphasized the need to govern for all Americans, a senior aide from Kamala Harris’ team confirmed, adding that Harris will be making remarks in Washington on Wednesday in Washington.
‘She discussed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and being a president for all Americans,’ a senior Harris aide said.
Trump now has 292 electoral votes to Harris’ 224. It takes 270 to win the presidency.
Trump is the first president in over 130 years and only the second in history to win a non-consecutive second term.
Exit polls reveal that Trump’s victory came after he managed to rally support from almost every demographic and voting group he had lost to in the 2020 election. He also built a coalition of diverse working-class voters, solidifying his position as the first president to secure a second non-consecutive term.
